Engagement shoot Hampton Court
The date was booked for Camille and Blair’s engagement shoot Hampton Court many weeks in advance as Camille is a teacher and she wanted to do it in holiday time. And typically this particular day it was raining more than any other that week!! We spoke in the morning and decided to chance it hoping for a break in the downpours. Camille and Blair are both Canadian’s living and working in London and their wedding is booked for summer 2017 back in their home town in Canada. They choose to have their engagement shoot in a part of London that is really special to them. Blair’s father is British and lives in Hampton Court and the couple have many fond memories of the area. They also have very fond memories of their local pub and wanted to have some photos taken in the pub, which was a first for me but I’m always happy to go to the pub! Blair’s father is a regular in the pub and his brother worked there so they were happy for us to photograph and the few punters enjoying their Wednesday afternoon pint didn’t seem to mind too much either.
Luckily the rain did stop for a brief while and we headed out to Hampton Court Bridge which overlooks Hampton Court Palace. For late May is was pretty cold and drizzly but this didn’t deter the happy couple and they were real troopers throughout the shoot. We then headed over the bridge to the Palace itself and managed to get a few photos before the security guard stopped us and said we weren’t allowed, which seems crazy considering the millions of photos which have probably been taken in the exact spot we were in. We continued with our shoot just outside the grounds by the River Thames before the heavens opened once more and then it was straight to the pub…oh with a quick outfit change first!
As with any wedding day you can’t plan the weather and sometimes you just have to go for it! I actually think the tone of the day works really well with this set of photos, it’s the London look right!!
