When I first met Kate & Deaglan and they told me about their wedding plans I knew it was going to be a fun and very personal occasion and it certainly lived up to expectation. Kate is from America and Deaglan from Ireland and they met whilst studying at the London School of Economics. Their wedding party consisted of close friends and family who had travelled over to London to celebrate with them and it was lovely to see two worlds collide in such a fantastic way. Kate, her bridesmaid sister and mum all went to a salon for hair & makeup and then I joined them at Flemings Hotel in Mayfair were she was to get ready, and Kate was definitely one of the most relaxed brides I’ve seen. Her dress was super elegant with a beautiful lace back and she looked absolutely stunning. Once dressed it was a quick ride in a black cab to the Catholic church in St Johns Wood for the late afternoon ceremony. After the “I do’s” everyone boarded the old Route Master bus for a tour of London’s sites along with plenty of bubbles and personalised wedding popcorn. There was a midway stop at LSE for some photos with a famous penguin mascot and then onto the evening reception venue ‘The Emin Room’ at Restaurant 34 in Mayfair. The Emin Room is located above 34 and houses specially commissioned art by celebrated artist Tracey Emin. The bride & groom entered to great applause and went straight into their first dance, then the folk band got into full swing with some traditional Irish music getting everyone dancing and the party started. There was a good array of speeches which were funny, emotional and very entertaining throughout. Then the evening meal was served with culinary delights from the Head Chef, Harvey Ayliffe who creates seasonal menus especially for The Emin Room which I was lucky enough to enjoy and was indeed fantastic. The evening atmosphere continued with lots of laughter as family and friends celebrated with the happy couple. There was a real sense of tradition mixed with fun, culture and elegance throughout the day and I loved every part. Massive congratulations to Kate & Deaglan, it was a pleasure to be part of their special day.
